Minnikhanov Meets Uzbekistan President in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, held talks with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent.
The meeting took place on April 20 during the visit of the Tatarstan delegation to the international industrial exhibition “INNOPROM. Central Asia”.
At the beginning of the talks, Minnikhanov expressed gratitude to the Uzbek side for its consistent attention to the development of cooperation with Tatarstan. He noted that trade and economic ties between the two sides are demonstrating steady growth. According to him, bilateral trade turnover increased by 13.5 percent over the past year and exceeded US$427 million.
The Tatarstan leader said this positive dynamic has been made possible by stable cooperation between enterprises on both sides.
Several companies are participating in the INNOPROM exhibition, which Minnikhanov described as an important platform for expanding cooperation with Central Asian countries, particularly Uzbekistan.
The sides also discussed the implementation of joint projects in the development of industrial parks. President Mirziyoyev positively assessed existing industrial zones involving Tatarstan in Chirchik, Jizzakh, Navoi and Bukhara, noting Minnikhanov’s contribution to their development.
At the end of the meeting, Minnikhanov invited the Uzbek delegation to participate in the international economic forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”.
