Light industry produces goods for 2.014 trln. soums in 1Q

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Enterprises of light industry of Uzbekistan produced goods for 2.014 trillion soums in January-March 2013, which rose by 13.2% year-on-year, the information service of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

In the reporting period, textile enterprises manufactured goods for 1.769 trillion soums (+12.2%), ginneries – 1.138 trillion soums (+7.7%).

Uzbekistan increased production of mixed fabrics by 74.4%, cotton-fibre – by 61.6%, stockinet – by 56.5% and cotton yarn – by 32.2%.

The enterprises launched new high competitive products, including leather products (2.1 times), hosiery (45.4%) and knitted products (+19.5%).

At the same time, in the reporting period, the country increased production of ready-made garments (+5.3%) and carpets and carpet products (+4.7%).

In the first quarter, textile enterprises exported goods for US$209.3 million, which rose by 22.1% year-on-year.
