Kirov Region, Silkway CA Agree on Trade Expansion
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Kirov Region has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Silkway CA to establish direct supplies of fruits, vegetables, textile products, groceries, and other goods from Asian countries via Uzbekistan, according to officials speaking at the Innoprom. Central Asia forum.
Regional authorities said the current supply chain relies on multiple intermediaries, increasing costs and reducing product quality. The new arrangement is designed to streamline logistics and improve efficiency by shortening delivery routes and reducing additional markups.
The agreement was signed by Andrey Berezin, director of the Kirov-based company AGAT 43, and Daniyar Tiesov, CEO of Silkway CA.
Silkway CA is developing a large-scale infrastructure project aimed at creating a transport corridor between Asian countries and Russia, combining railway logistics with air transport solutions for perishable goods.
Kirov Region plans to integrate into this corridor and has already begun construction of a logistics distribution center named “Severnaya Shirota” in Kirov. The facility is expected to cover up to 120,000 square meters and handle more than 500,000 tons of cargo annually.
Authorities said the hub is intended to become a key logistics node linking Russia with Asian markets through regions including the Volga area, the Urals, and Central Russia, such as Tatarstan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Perm, Yekaterinburg, Bashkortostan, and the Moscow region.
Officials also highlighted potential for reverse trade flows, including timber and wood products, fertilizers, plastics, and other industrial goods from the region.
The Kirov Region emphasized that Uzbekistan is one of its key foreign trade partners. The region aims to increase trade turnover by more than 50% by 2030, including expansion in wood processing exports and cooperation in machine-building, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals.
Currently, Kirov Region exports timber and wood products, aluminum, ferrous metals, food products, and fertilizers to Uzbekistan.
