Karakalpakstan Kindergartens to Close Temporarily Due to Heat

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — State and private kindergartens in several cities and districts of Karakalpakstan will temporarily suspend operations due to an expected sharp rise in air temperatures. The Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Karakalpakstan announced the decision.

As explained by the ministry, the decision was made to protect children's health from the effects of the anomalous heat and to ensure their safety. The suspension of operations at preschool institutions is being implemented based on the conclusions and recommendations of regional divisions of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Well-being and Public Health.

According to decisions issued by local governors, kindergartens in Nukus and the Khodzheyli district will not operate from 13 to 18 July. In the Amudarya district, their activities will be suspended from 13 to 15 July. In the Beruniy, Takhiatash, Shumanay, Muynak, Kanlykul, and Turtkul districts, the preschool institutions will be closed from 13 to 17 July.

The ministry urged parents to pay close attention to the health status of their children, prevent them from spending extended periods outside during the hottest hours, and follow necessary safety precautions.

Earlier, Uzhydromet warned that very hot air masses would enter the territory of Uzbekistan from 13 to 17 July. According to forecasters, air temperatures could reach 44 to 46 degrees Celsius in some areas, and dust storms are possible in certain districts.
