Japan Donates Medical Equipment to Bukhara Hospital

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Japanese Embassy in Uzbekistan handed over advanced medical equipment valued at approximately US$111,720 to the Bukhara regional branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care on 3 September 2026.

The donation was executed under Japan’s "Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects" (GGP) framework. The official handover ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Kenji Hirata, Deputy Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Sherzod Mukhamedov, Head of the Bukhara Regional Health Department Mukhsin Radjabov, and Branch Director Shukhrat Khaydarov.

Under the project, the medical facility received specialized gynecological endoscopic and arthroscopic equipment sets. The new equipment will enhance diagnostic accuracy and enable surgical procedures at the regional center.

The Embassy of Japan highlighted that the initiative aligns with Japan's "Human Security" concept, aimed at developing sustainable social infrastructure. Operating in Uzbekistan since 1995, the grant program has funded 428 social initiatives across the healthcare, education, and agriculture sectors, including 114 healthcare projects nationwide and 11 within the Bukhara region. The Japanese government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting healthcare access improvements across Uzbekistan.
