French Star Group Proposes Orchard Modernisation in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The governor of Samarkand region, Adiz Boboev, has held talks with representatives of the French consortium Star Fruits & Plant Export (Star Group) on prospects for modernising the region’s horticulture sector.

During the meeting, the consortium presented its activities and proposed a comprehensive approach to agricultural development. This includes the supply of certified innovative seedlings, agronomic support for orchards, and assistance in global marketing and international promotion of agricultural products.

Star Group is one of Europe’s leading producers of so-called club varieties of fruit and has offered to introduce its business model to horticulture in Samarkand region.

It was noted that the approach could help shift production from raw exports to branded products with higher added value.

The regional governor expressed interest in the initiative, stressing the need to renew existing orchards and transition to modern agricultural production standards.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to further study the proposed solutions and work out possible steps for implementing joint projects.
