Ferghana to Establish Fergana Plus Medical Cluster
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A modern medical educational cluster named "Fergana Plus" will be established and an 800-bed multidisciplinary hospital will be built in the Ferghana region of Uzbekistan under a public-private partnership framework. The relevant agreements were reached following negotiations at the Tashkent International Investment Forum.
Minister of Health Eldor Adilov held a meeting with a delegation led by Mohammad Abunayyan, Co-Chairman of the Uzbekistan–Saudi Arabia Business Council and Chairman of the Board of ACWA, and Omar Al-Midani, CEO of Vision International Investment Company. The meeting focused on expanding cooperation and accelerating the implementation of joint projects in the healthcare sector.
The construction project for the multidisciplinary clinic is being implemented in accordance with a decree of the President of Uzbekistan. A contract was previously signed with a consortium of private partners including Vision International Investment Company and KOS Construction Mekanik Elektrik Fe LLC, marking a key preparation stage for the practical execution of the initiative.
The new clinic will consolidate the branches of five specialized medical centers in the region into a single complex. It will provide high-tech medical care to residents of the Ferghana region, neighboring provinces, and adjacent countries in the fields of cardiosurgery, neurosurgery, transplantology, nephrology, and orthopedics.
The structure of the complex will also include intensive care and emergency departments with 160 beds, alongside auxiliary clinical services.
Additionally, the project provides for the creation of the Fergana Plus educational cluster, which will combine a nursing school, a medical university, and hotel infrastructure for students and specialists.
Following the negotiations, the parties signed an agreement to establish the medical educational cluster, expressing confidence that the project will strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia and raise the level of medical services in the region.
