Ferghana region and Goyang to expand interregional cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Ferghana region and the South Korean city of Goyang plan to expand cooperation in trade and economic relations, investment, education and tourism. The relevant issues were discussed by Ferghana Region Governor Khayrullo Bozorov and Goyang Mayor Min Kyung Seo.

The meeting was held as part of the head of Ferghana region’s working visit to the Republic of Korea. The participants exchanged views on developing mutually beneficial ties and implementing joint initiatives in promising areas.

At the beginning of the talks, the sides were shown videos highlighting the economic and investment potential of Ferghana region and Goyang, their infrastructure, as well as opportunities for cooperation in education, tourism and other areas.

Min Kyung Seo noted the start of education for young people from Ferghana region at Chungbu University as an important step in developing relations between the two regions. The Goyang mayor expressed readiness to expand cooperation not only in education, but also in the economy, investment, business, tourism and other areas.

Khayrullo Bozorov stressed that strengthening ties between Ferghana region and Goyang creates new opportunities for both sides. Among the regional governor’s proposals were establishing direct contacts between business representatives, organizing reciprocal delegation visits, developing specific investment and trade projects, and further expanding partnerships between educational institutions.

Goyang is one of the major cities of the Republic of Korea and is located in Gyeonggi Province, directly bordering Seoul. Its area exceeds 268 square kilometers, while its population is more than 1.07 million.

The city has modern transport infrastructure and a developed international exhibition and convention industry. Goyang is also home to media and creative industries, as well as tourism and social infrastructure. The city hosts KINTEX, one of the largest international exhibition and convention complexes in the Republic of Korea.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to establish a joint working group comprising representatives of Ferghana region and Goyang.

The group will prepare a roadmap with specific measures, after which the sides intend to consistently expand cooperation and translate the agreements and initiatives reached into practical projects.
