Uzbek miniature art showcased in Riyadh

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A cultural evening and the opening of the exhibition “The Art of Miniature: From Bukhara to the Arabian Peninsula. Stories Along the Routes to Holy Sites” were held in Riyadh to mark the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence. The Dunyo news agency reported this.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Saudi Arabia and brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, government institutions, media, cultural and art figures, artists and other guests.

The centerpiece of the program was an exhibition featuring 35 works by Uzbek masters, showcasing the history, artistic features and traditions of national miniature painting.

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Nodirjon Turgunov highlighted the importance of cultural interaction in strengthening mutual understanding between peoples and further developing humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia.

Princess Nura bint Saud bin Naif Al Saud, head of the AlMashtal Creative Center, congratulated Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of its independence. She also emphasized the importance of preserving miniature art as part of the Islamic artistic heritage.

Gulabza Karshieva, Director of the Kamoliddin Behzod Museum of Miniature Art of the East, presented information on the history and development of miniature painting in Uzbekistan. She spoke about measures being taken in the country to preserve, study and further develop this art form, separately highlighting its importance for preserving historical memory and cultural traditions.

The works presented at the exhibition gave visitors an opportunity to learn more about the artistic techniques of Uzbek miniature painting, its themes and its characteristic attention to the smallest details.

The event also included discussions on cooperation in education and the arts.

Representatives of Saudi universities expressed interest in establishing partnerships with the Kamoliddin Behzod National Institute of Arts and Design.

Possible areas of cooperation include academic exchanges, joint research and professional contacts.

The exhibition will be open to visitors for two days.

In addition, Uzbek specialists will conduct practical master classes for 35 Saudi amateur artists and young masters.
