Ferghana and Kam Air Discuss Launching New Airline
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Officials in Uzbekistan's Ferghana region held talks with representatives of Afghan airline Kam Air to discuss prospects for establishing a new international airline based in Ferghana.
Ferghana Region Governor Khayrullo Bozorov met with a delegation led by Omar Mohammad Sulaiman, head of Kam Air. Timur Khalilov, Head of the Commercial Department at Uzbekistan Airports JSC, also attended the meeting.
The discussions built upon agreements reached during a visit by a Ferghana regional delegation to Afghanistan on 26–27 July 2026, which focused on expanding trade, economic, and investment ties. During the latest meeting, participants reviewed progress on those agreements and discussed expanding civil aviation cooperation.
The central topic of negotiations was the initiative to launch a new international airline in Ferghana. The sides exchanged views on operational capabilities, infrastructure requirements, and ground service organization. Discussions also addressed preliminary regulatory and technical requirements needed to advance the initiative toward implementation.
Participants emphasized the importance of engaging relevant aviation authorities and specialists, noting that all project planning must align with international standards. Following the talks, both sides agreed on next steps and outlined priority areas for ongoing cooperation in the aviation sector.
