EIB, Uzbekistan Form €1 Billion Portfolio Under Global Gateway

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, met with the Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Marek Mora.

The key event of the negotiations was the solemn opening ceremony of the EIB's regional representative office for Central Asia in Tashkent.

The new diplomatic and financial hub will coordinate the bank's project activities across four states in the region: Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. The choice of the Uzbek capital as the location for the central office is driven by its strategic geographical position, the country's dynamic economic achievements, and the high level of mutual trust in bilateral relations.

During the official meeting, the parties also discussed the strategic prospects of financial and technical cooperation in detail.

Currently, the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, together with EIB analysts, is actively developing a large-scale portfolio of joint initiatives with a total value of 1 billion euros. These investments are being mobilized within the framework of implementing the long-term "Uzbekistan-2030" Strategy and the European Global Gateway program.

Special attention within the structure of the developing portfolio is dedicated to the technological modernization of transport corridors, the development of green energy and water management systems, comprehensive digitalization, and the launch of projects for the deep processing of critical raw materials.
