Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The head of the Art and Culture Development Foundation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Gayane Umerova, held an official meeting with Laurent Le Bon, the president of the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

The focus of the meeting was on establishing long-term strategic cooperation in the field of museum management.

The participants of the negotiations examined modern approaches to managing art collections, mechanisms for deepening institutional partnerships, and prospects for implementing large-scale joint cultural projects at the international level.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to scientific and exhibition cooperation between major museum institutions. In particular, the sides discussed the possibility of launching joint programs for the comprehensive study of the unique collection of the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan named after I.V. Savitsky.

The partners expressed mutual interest in organizing bilateral exhibition projects, as well as launching regular professional exchange programs for specialists and restorers.

A separate item on the agenda was the prospects for cooperation between the Centre Pompidou and the National Museum of Uzbekistan, which is currently under construction and designed by the world-renowned architect Tadao Ando.

At the conclusion of the official visit, the French side presented a roadmap of its key international projects and upcoming cultural events to the delegation of Uzbekistan.

The representatives of Uzbekistan also received an opportunity to familiarize themselves in detail with the progress of the large-scale technical reconstruction and modernization of the Centre Pompidou building in Paris. The official opening of the building after its renovation is scheduled for 2030.

Following the meetings, the sides outlined a plan of further actions for the practical implementation of the discussed cultural initiatives.
