Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Starting October 1, a dedicated women-only carriage will be introduced on international train No. 1/2 operating between Almaty and Tashkent, according to a report from Passenger Transportation JSC.

Tickets for the specialized carriage will be sold exclusively to female passengers, and the onboard service will be provided entirely by female train conductors. Boys up to seven years of age will also be permitted to travel in the carriage if accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased at railway ticket offices and online via carrier platforms, where designated seats in the women-only section will be marked with the code "ZH" (ЖН). Ticket sales open 45 days prior to the departure date.

Train No. 1/2 operates on a daily schedule. Departures from Almaty are scheduled for 19:05, arriving in Tashkent at 12:53 the following day. The return service departs Tashkent at 14:41 and arrives in Almaty at 08:51.

Anuar Akhmetzhanov, Chairman of the Management Board of Passenger Transportation JSC, stated that the decision to introduce a women-only carriage on an international route was made to meet growing demand and accommodate rising passenger traffic.

According to company data, over 946,000 passengers have utilized women-only carriages across domestic rail routes in Kazakhstan since the service was first launched. The addition of the Almaty–Tashkent service will expand the network offering women-only carriages to 14 routes, marking the first time the service is extended to an international rail connection between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
