Abdumajidov to Join French Club Brest in January
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Pakhtakor Tashkent defender Mukhammadrasul Abdumajidov will continue his career with French club Brest, joining the team from 1 January, Pakhtakor head coach Kamoliddin Tajiyev said.
According to the coach, the parties have already signed a contract with the player. However, Abdumajidov decided to remain with Pakhtakor until the end of the current period to help the team.
“Mukhammadrasul himself wanted to stay with the team and help,” Tajiyev said.
The French club had previously shown interest in the 22-year-old Pakhtakor defender. At the end of August, it was reported that Brest wanted to sign the player on a one-season loan with an option to buy him later, but the Tashkent club did not agree to the transfer.
Tajiyev also noted that an earlier offer could have changed the situation. According to him, if the relevant letter had arrived earlier, the club might have agreed to release the player to France.
The Pakhtakor head coach cited Mukhammadali Urinboyev as an example. The player moved from the Tashkent club to a Belgian team last year.
