778 Asian Houbara Bustards Released into the Wild in Navoiy Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A total of 778 Asian Houbara bustards have been released into their natural habitat across the desert areas of the Nurata and Navbakhor districts in the Navoiy Region.

The initiative was organized by the Department for Development of Eco-Territories and Hunting Management under the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, alongside the Navoiy Regional Department of Ecology and Climate Change and Falcon Hunting Solutions LLC.

All released birds were raised in a specialized breeding nursery in the United Arab Emirates. The effort aims to restore and expand the local population of the Asian Houbara bustard, preserve biodiversity, and maintain ecological stability in desert ecosystems.

Ecology specialists noted that successful adaptation and subsequent breeding of the birds in the wild are key to ensuring a sustainable recovery for this rare species.

According to the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, releasing captive-bred birds is part of a broader, systematic strategy to protect wildlife, safeguard endangered species, and restore natural habitats.
