6.9 MW small hydropower plant nears launch in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Construction of the JFK-3 small hydropower plant with an installed capacity of 6.9 MW is nearing completion in the Bulakbashi district of the Andijan region, with commissioning expected in the near future.
The progress of the project was reviewed by Islam Abdurakhmanov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekhydroenergo JSC, during an on-site inspection.
During the visit, he examined the current status of construction, held discussions with engineers and personnel working at the facility, and paid particular attention to staff qualifications, professional skills, and occupational safety standards.
At present, the hydropower plant is undergoing final technical testing of its equipment, alongside landscaping and finishing works across the site.
Once operational, the station is expected to generate an average of around 33 million kWh of clean electricity per year.
The project is expected to improve the stability of electricity supply in the region and increase the share of renewable energy sources in Uzbekistan’s overall energy balance.
