15-Car Pileup in Tashkent Leaves Driver Hospitalized
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A mass road traffic accident involving 15 vehicles occurred in Tashkent, leaving one driver hospitalized. The incident took place on Tuesday at around 16:25 in the area of the Chimgan shopping and entertainment center.
According to the Road Safety Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, a Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 73-year-old man crashed at high speed into a line of vehicles that had stopped at an intersection on a red traffic signal.
Video footage circulating on social media shows the SUV being launched upward upon impact before falling onto other cars. As a result of the collision, one vehicle was thrown off the roadway and crashed into a tree.
Eyewitnesses attempted to assist the driver trapped inside the damaged vehicle. Emergency services later arrived at the scene.
The driver was transported to a medical facility with injuries. Preliminary reports suggest that the cause of the accident may have been a sudden deterioration in his health, leading to loss of control.
No additional injuries have been reported at the time of publication.
