Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s space agency Uzcosmos and Chinese technology firm STAR VISION have signed a strategic memorandum to advance satellite and space applications, the agency said on Monday.
Under the agreement, the parties will pursue joint projects, expand scientific and technological cooperation, and work with universities and private companies.
As part of the partnership, STAR VISION will name one of its hyperspectral satellites “Samarkand-2028” and support the International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2028), which Uzbekistan will host.
The cooperation also includes using hyperspectral data to produce national crop maps for cotton and wheat, according to Uzcosmos.
