Uzbekistan, World Bank Discuss Digital Transformation Plans
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov has met with World Bank Vice President for Digital and AI Sangbu Kim.
Ahead of the talks, delegations were briefed on Uzbekistan's achievements in digital transformation, including the work of IT Park Uzbekistan, the development of the ICT ecosystem, growth in IT services exports, startup support, and efforts to attract international technology companies.
Participants were also presented with information on the activities of Uzinfocom. Particular attention was given to projects on the digitalisation of public services, the development of e-government, and the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into public administration.
The two sides discussed the development of an inclusive digital economy, the expansion of digital infrastructure, job creation, and the acceleration of digital transformation across various sectors.
A separate focus was placed on workforce development and the creation of modern jobs for young people, including digital skills training and foreign language education.
During the talks, Uzbekistan's achievements in e-government were highlighted. Both sides noted the country's progress in the GovTech Maturity Index, in which Uzbekistan rose 73 places to rank ninth in the world.
The development of data centre infrastructure and the expansion of capacity to meet growing demand for digital services were also discussed.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reviewed prospects for further cooperation in digital technologies, artificial intelligence, e-government, and digital infrastructure development.
