Uzbekistan, US Financial Institutions Discuss Major Investments
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with President and Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States John Jovanovic and Chief Executive Officer of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Ben Black during the Tashkent International Investment Forum.
At the beginning of the meeting, representatives of US financial institutions conveyed greetings and best wishes from US President Donald Trump to the President of Uzbekistan.
The sides discussed in detail the participation of EXIM Bank and DFC in financing strategically important projects in Uzbekistan.
The talks focused on infrastructure development, the extraction of critical mineral resources, modernisation of the energy sector, introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, and the digital transformation of the economy.
Following the discussions, the parties reached an agreement to accelerate the implementation of joint projects on the modernisation of the energy sector with support from the US EXIM Bank.
Special attention was also given to expanding export credit mechanisms to support initiatives by domestic businesses in priority areas of the economy.
The President of Uzbekistan supported DFC proposals to establish a joint investment platform aimed at financing projects in healthcare, energy, and infrastructure development.
Separate attention was given to moving to the practical implementation of several large projects, including the construction of a new international airport in Tashkent, a modern medical complex in Fergana Region, the launch of a digital bank, as well as the construction of data centres and dry ports.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides agreed to prepare a joint roadmap outlining specific measures to advance the investment and technology projects discussed during the talks.
