Uzbekistan to Widely Celebrate 1200th Anniversary of Hakim Termizi

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution on the wide celebration in 2026 of the 1200th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding scholar, representative of Hadith science and Sufism, Hakim Termizi. The document provides for scientific, cultural, and educational events dedicated to his heritage.

According to Resolution No. PP-275 dated 24 July 2026, an international conference titled "The Significance of the Scientific and Spiritual Heritage of Hakim Termizi in Modern Times" will be held in Termez in November, dedicated to studying and popularizing the thinker's works.

As part of preparations for the anniversary, academic translations into Uzbek and foreign languages with commentary of Hakim Termizi's works "Navodir al-Usul" and "Bahr at-Tafsir," as well as other sources related to his scientific heritage, will be published.

In addition, throughout 2026, a series of brochures dedicated to the scholar's life and scientific heritage will be prepared and published.

The resolution also provides for holding the "Connoisseur of the Works of Hakim Termizi" competition among students of religious educational institutions jointly with the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan. Winners of the competition will be awarded.

In November, as part of the events dedicated to the thinker's anniversary, a kurash wrestling tournament under the motto "Mardlar Maidoni" ("Arena of the Brave") dedicated to the memory of Hakim Termizi will take place.
