Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Low-income families in Uzbekistan will receive one-off financial assistance of 1 million soums by 30 November 2026.
The funds are expected to be transferred to recipients’ social or bank cards.
The eligibility criteria for the payments and compensation for utility expenses were discussed during a voice chat on the Telegram channel of the National Agency for Social Protection.
Families included in the Social Register are eligible for the one-off assistance, as are certain households not listed in the register but meeting established criteria for financial need.
In the latter cases, decisions take into account the assessment of the mahalla's seven-member council and the household’s socioeconomic circumstances.
In addition to the one-off payment, eligible households can receive compensation for part of their electricity and natural gas expenses.
The state covers the difference between applicable tariffs for consumption exceeding the basic allowance within specified limits. The compensation programme has been extended until 1 April 2028.
For areas without gas supply or where natural gas deliveries are difficult, the monthly basic electricity consumption allowance has been increased to 350 kWh during the heating season. The list of eligible areas is to be approved in accordance with established procedures.
Compensation is also available for fuel purchases. Households receive 3,000 soums for each kilogram of liquefied gas purchased, up to a maximum of 20 kg per month. For coal purchased through the mycoal.uz platform, the compensation amounts to 300,000 soums per tonne. The maximum support under this measure is 600,000 soums per calendar year.
The National Agency for Social Protection emphasised that the one-off payment of 1 million soums and compensation for utility expenses are separate support measures, each with its own eligibility requirements and criteria.
For further information, citizens are advised to contact Inson social services centres in their area of residence or social workers in their mahalla.
