Uzbekistan, Standard Chartered Expand Financial Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev held talks with Standard Chartered Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Saif Ullah Malik ahead of the Tashkent International Investment Forum.

The discussions noted that Standard Chartered is one of Uzbekistan’s key international financial partners. In recent years, the bank has been actively involved in mobilising long-term financing for the government, state-owned banks, and large enterprises, as well as supporting major transactions in international capital markets.

The two sides underlined the importance of the partnership for Uzbekistan. This includes not only access to financing, but also the development of the national financial market, strengthening international investor confidence, expanding trade and project finance instruments, and supporting strategic infrastructure and energy projects.

They also discussed prospects for cooperation in new areas, including infrastructure, energy, public-private partnerships, bond market development, Islamic finance, and the integration of Uzbekistan’s financial market into international capital flows.

At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue practical work to expand cooperation aimed at long-term economic growth, industrial development, and improving Uzbekistan’s investment attractiveness.
