Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — First Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safaev held a meeting with a delegation led by the Chair of the Committee on Culture, Tourism and Sports of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and head of the Korea–Uzbekistan interparliamentary cooperation group Kim Gyo-heung.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of strengthening interparliamentary relations between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, as well as developing contacts between relevant committees and interparliamentary cooperation groups.

It was noted that the active political dialogue at the leadership level in recent years has provided additional momentum to the development of interstate relations. In this context, parliamentary diplomacy is regarded as an important tool for implementing reached agreements and promoting new initiatives.

During the talks, it was emphasized that the Republic of Korea is a reliable partner and a friendly country for Uzbekistan.

Kim Gyo-heung noted the historical foundation of bilateral cooperation linked to the traditions of the Great Silk Road, and highlighted the development of interaction within the framework of the New Silk Road concept and the Innovative Silk Road Strategy, covering economic, digital, and cultural ties.

Following the meeting, the sides expressed a common view on the importance of further expanding cooperation in trade, economic, investment, and innovation areas, as well as in education, healthcare, culture, and tourism as key directions of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
