Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has secured two qualifying spots for the 2027 Chess World Cups, one in the open category and one in the women’s category. The International Chess Federation (FIDE) allocated the qualifying places based on the results of the 46th World Chess Olympiad held in Samarkand, FIDE announced.

Uzbekistan’s men’s team, which finished first at the Olympiad, secured the country a spot in the open World Cup. The women’s team, which finished 13th, earned a place in the Women’s World Cup.

Under FIDE rules, each qualifying spot will be awarded to one of the players who represented the national team at the Olympiad. If all team members have already qualified through other routes or decline to participate, the national federation may select another player.

The final list of players who will use the allocated spots is expected to be approved between 1 and 15 July 2027.

In total, 83 national federations received qualifying spots for the 2027 open World Cup based on the Olympiad results, while 45 federations secured places in the Women’s World Cup.
