Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Committee on Defence and Security of Uzbekistan’s Senate has reviewed progress in implementing agreements reached at the highest level between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. The meeting was held as part of parliamentary oversight.
Representatives of the ministries and agencies responsible for implementation presented updates on key areas of cooperation, including investment, industry and trade, agriculture, mining and geology, digital technologies, construction, light industry, food security, rail transport, pharmaceuticals and science. A representative of Uzbekistan’s embassy in Pakistan also provided information on practical aspects of bilateral cooperation.
The meeting noted that relations between the two countries had reached a new level in recent years. The sides have continued to develop political dialogue, trade and economic ties, investment cooperation, transport and logistics routes, industrial collaboration, and cooperation in agriculture, education, science and cultural and humanitarian affairs.
Particular attention was given to implementing agreements reached following the state visit of Uzbekistan’s president to Pakistan on 5–6 February 2026. Roadmaps for their implementation were approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 174 dated 16 April 2026.
Participants reviewed progress on the tasks set out in the roadmaps, work already completed, existing challenges and measures to address them. They noted that, despite progress in several areas, delays remained in others.
In this regard, the meeting stressed the need to strengthen coordination among the officials responsible for implementation and ensure that the assigned tasks were completed fully and on time.
Speakers also emphasised that progress should be assessed not only through reports on work carried out but also through concrete practical results.
Participants further highlighted the need to raise issues requiring joint decisions with the Pakistani side for discussion within the framework of interparliamentary dialogue.
The meeting concluded with the adoption of a relevant decision.
