Uzbekistan President Arrives in Kazakhstan for Visit

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Astana on a working visit at the invitation of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Upon arrival at the capital’s airport, the President was welcomed by Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and other senior officials.

According to the official program, the Uzbek leader will participate on 21–22 April in a regional environmental summit, as well as in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the founding members of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.

The agenda of the upcoming events includes discussions on strengthening regional cooperation aimed at sustainable development in Central Asia, along with pressing environmental, climate, and water-related challenges facing the region.

President Mirziyoyev is expected to present Uzbekistan’s assessments and proposals on key agenda items. During the visit, he will also attend a specialized environmental exhibition featuring national pavilions.

Following the summit, participants are expected to adopt a number of documents aimed at further enhancing regional cooperation in environmental protection and sustainable development.
