Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Uzbekistan plans to commission wind, solar and hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of more than 5,000 megawatts in the next five years. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking at a session of the UzLiDeP party in Tashkent.

He noted that in the next five years, it is planned to commission wind, solar and hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of more than 5,000 megawatts. As a result, about 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be saved annually.

The head of Uzbekistan said that a special program will be adopted to stimulate the production and use of electric vehicles.

Next year, 320 electric buses will be launched in the city transport of Tashkent. A special fund for the development of a "green economy" will also be created.

The energy efficiency of the economy will increase by 20%, the amount of harmful gases emitted into the atmosphere will decrease by 10%.
