Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has entered the list of 20 countries with the largest number of entries for the IX KARDO International Award in street culture and sport, submitting 190 registered participants, the award's organisers said.
The grand final of the ninth season is being held in Vladivostok on 17–20 September 2026. For the first time in the project's nine-year history, the final events are being held in the Russian Far East. The main venue is the campus of Far Eastern Federal University on Russky Island.
More than 500 finalists from 70 countries have arrived in Vladivostok. They were selected from more than 51,000 applicants from around the world. About 45% of the finalists came from outside Russia.
The award's programme includes competitions in 13 areas divided into three categories. Extreme sports feature BMX, roller skates, scooters and skateboarding. Street sports include tricking, workout, freerunning and parkour. In the street culture category, events are held in DJ-ing, graffiti, rap, hip-hop and breaking.
Alongside the sports and creative competitions, participants attend educational lectures, masterclasses and meetings with industry experts. The project also includes a video competition, a grant competition, a young streetwear designer competition and an award for contribution to the development of the sector.
Andrei Betin, general director of the presidential platform "Russia — Land of Opportunities", said KARDO represents a platform for developing talents through sport, culture and creativity, as well as for exchanging experience between young people from different countries.
The KARDO award was created nine years ago as a festival of Russian street culture. The project subsequently expanded into an international platform bringing together participants, experts and representatives of street communities from different countries.
The 2026 final is being held with the support of the President of the Russian Federation as part of the national project "Youth and Children".
