Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's law enforcement authorities are considering offering bodyguard services to foreign tourists, official delegations, business representatives and other visitors to ensure their personal safety, the press service of the Interior Ministry said.
The new services were presented by the Interior Ministry's Protection Department. The proposed escort services would allow authorities to assess potential risks during a foreign visitor's trip in advance, arrange necessary security measures along travel routes and respond promptly to emergencies.
The issue was discussed at a meeting between Kobil Shodibekov, head of the Protection Department, and Sukhrabjon Bobokalonov, deputy chairman of Uzbekistan's Tourism Committee.
In addition to bodyguard services, the participants considered expanding the use of technical security equipment, modern video surveillance systems and rapid response teams at tourist sites.
Law enforcement authorities also plan to analyze risks along routes popular with tourists. Where necessary, they propose strengthening security at facilities and ensuring rapid communication.
The participants noted that security remains one of the factors influencing Uzbekistan's international image and its appeal as a tourist destination.
