Uzbekistan Clarifies New Rules for Gas-Fueled Vehicles

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Starting from 1 September, vehicles equipped with gas cylinders in Uzbekistan will not be subject to mass inspections at filling stations, and drivers will not be required to obtain QR codes simultaneously, the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety said.

The new procedure applies only when a gas cylinder reaches the scheduled deadline for its next technical inspection.

The clarification was issued amid reports circulating that all owners of gas-fueled vehicles would allegedly be required to undergo inspections and obtain QR codes from 1 September.

The Committee emphasized that drivers whose current technical inspection certificates have not yet expired can continue using their vehicles on the basis of their existing documents. They do not need to undergo a repeat inspection or immediately obtain a new QR code from 1 September.

Inspections will be carried out as scheduled once the established technical inspection deadline is reached.

The results will be entered into an electronic system, after which the relevant document containing a QR code will be issued. Therefore, the new procedure does not require all drivers to visit laboratories at the same time.

The system was introduced in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 315 dated 18 June 2026. Its main objectives include monitoring the technical condition of gas cylinders, preventing the use of counterfeit documents and reducing the risk of accidents and other incidents involving gas equipment.

For example, if a cylinder underwent a technical inspection in March 2025 and the issued document remains valid until March 2028, no repeat inspection is required after 1 September. The driver is also not required to immediately obtain a QR code and can continue using the vehicle on the basis of the valid document.

If the inspection certificate expires after 1 September 2026, the vehicle owner must undergo the scheduled inspection when the established deadline arrives, enter the results into the electronic system and obtain a document containing a QR code.

When a new gas cylinder is installed in a vehicle, its inspection and the issuance of relevant documents are also carried out in accordance with the established procedure.

The Committee said the new procedure is primarily aimed at ensuring public safety and protecting citizens’ lives and health.
