Uzbekistan approves Eid al-Adha social support measures

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed a set of proposals on socio-economic support for vulnerable segments of the population ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday.

The submitted materials emphasized that one of the key priorities of state policy remains ensuring social protection of the population, supporting vulnerable groups, and strengthening an atmosphere of kindness and compassion in society. These principles were noted as particularly relevant during Eid al-Adha.

According to the proposals developed by a number of government and public organizations, a broad package of social measures is planned in the country.

In particular, the initiative includes funding surgical operations for 10,000 children with serious illnesses, as well as medical examinations and treatment for 2,300 patients diagnosed with cancer, hematological and onco-hematological diseases. In addition, liver and kidney transplants are planned for at least 350 people.

Special attention has been given to supporting children in difficult life situations. More than 8,000 children, including orphans, children without parental care, and children of servicemen killed in the line of duty, will receive 200 US dollars each into savings accounts.

The program also includes renovation and repair of around 500 mosques, construction of modern ablution facilities, and improvement of cemeteries. Families under state care, elderly people living alone, and persons with disabilities will be provided with food packages.

Funding for the measures will total 690 billion soums and will be carried out through the public charitable foundation “Waqf”.

In addition, charitable activities are planned, including communal meals for socially vulnerable groups and the performance of Qurban rituals in pilgrimage sites and religious educational institutions.

The President instructed authorities to ensure transparent and targeted implementation of all support measures, treatment programs and assistance for those in need.
