Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Sports Minister Adham Ikramov met with World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) President Roy Baker, who arrived in Tashkent for the Uzbekistan Kickboxing World Cup 2026.

The sides discussed prospects for developing the sport in Uzbekistan, expanding international cooperation and creating new opportunities for athletes.

The tournament is being held in Tashkent from 13 to 18 October under WAKO’s auspices and organised by the Kickboxing Association of Uzbekistan. More than 2,530 athletes and official delegation members from over 48 countries are taking part.

The meeting highlighted the growing number of people practising kickboxing in Uzbekistan and the success of the country’s athletes in international competitions.

Ikramov also presented Baker with a video about the Olympic City, built on the initiative of the country’s president, and outlined reforms aimed at developing sports infrastructure and supporting athletes.

During his visit, the WAKO president toured a branch of the Museum of Olympic and Paralympic Glory located in the Sports Ministry’s administrative building within the Olympic City.

He viewed exhibits showcasing the achievements of Uzbek athletes and their results on the international stage.

At the end of the visit, Baker left a commemorative message with his best wishes in the museum’s guestbook.
