Uzbekistan and Russia to establish cooperation in the field of teachers’ training

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Russia intend to develop cooperation in the field of teachers’ training for general schools.

The leadership of the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan held talks with the delegation of Russia, which included First Deputy Director of the Moscow House of Compatriots, Yuri Kaplun, Head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Uzbekistan Viktor Shulika, Pro-Rector for Science of the Pushkin State Institute of Russian Language Mikhail Osadchy and Senior Adviser of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Uzbekistan Sergei Sokolov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of establishing cooperation in the sphere of education between Uzbekistan and Russia.

Given that now in Uzbekistan there is a shortage of teachers, especially in Russian-language schools, the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan is taking measures to address this problem.

The Uzbek side proposed to establish cooperation with Russian educational institutions for the training and retraining of Uzbek teachers.

Mikhail Osadchy offered to cooperate within the framework of the Partner Network "Pushkin Institute", which provides an opportunity to train highly qualified teachers of the Russian language.

Viktor Shulika, in turn, said that every year a group of young people from Uzbekistan is sent to study in Russian universities. He suggested, within the framework of this cooperation, to direct young people from Uzbekistan to study in pedagogical directions.

The parties agreed to work through the issues and determine further steps to achieve concrete results.
