Uzbekistan and Malaysia Expand Agricultural Education Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation led by Malaysia’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Haji Muhammad bin Sabtu visited Tashkent State Agrarian University as part of an official visit to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting with university leadership, the sides discussed the development of agricultural education and research activities, as well as the expansion of cooperation between higher education and scientific institutions in Uzbekistan and Malaysia. Special attention was given to the introduction of innovative technologies in agriculture.
The parties exchanged views on establishing direct partnerships between Tashkent State Agrarian University, leading universities in Malaysia, and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI).
Priority areas of cooperation included rice cultivation, fisheries and aquaculture, breeding of drought-resistant crops, water-saving technologies, digital agriculture, as well as the introduction of artificial intelligence, drone technologies, and smart agriculture solutions.
Following the talks, an expanded seminar was held with the participation of faculty members, researchers, students, and young scientists.
Representatives of the Malaysian delegation presented briefings on agricultural reforms in Malaysia, measures to ensure food security, and the development of international scientific cooperation.
During an open dialogue, the minister shared his professional experience and details of agricultural reforms with students.
Students asked questions and received detailed responses.
At the end of the meeting, the minister praised the level of training of students at Tashkent State Agrarian University, their knowledge in agriculture, and their proficiency in foreign languages, noting their potential for further development of the sector.
