Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Bilateral consultations were held in the city of Bishkek on 14 May under the chairmanship of the Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Damir Sagynbayev and the Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Viktor Mahmudov.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of ministries and departments of the two countries responsible for ensuring security.

The parties discussed issues of border, veterinary and phytosanitary security, countering terrorism and extremism.

Much attention was paid to improving the effectiveness of interaction and cooperation in emergency response.

The parties recognized the need to further develop cooperation and expand interaction under the leadership of the Heads of State.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum on further strengthening cooperation between the Secretariat of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Office of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
