Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the Tashkent International Investment Forum (TMIF-2026), bilateral negotiations were held between the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, and the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Iraq, Mustafa Nizar Juma Al-Hayyi.
The primary objective of the meeting was to determine key vectors for the development of interstate economic ties and to create favorable conditions for representatives of the business communities of both nations.
During the official dialogue, the ministry heads discussed mechanisms for institutional support of business in detail, alongside the schedule for holding joint business forums and exhibitions. The parties paid special attention to trade liberalization measures, including the simplification of mutual administrative, customs, and visa procedures, as well as the establishment of direct interbank correspondent relations.
Furthermore, the ministers reviewed promising areas for expanding industrial cooperation, the mutual promotion of finished goods into each other's markets, and the development of efficient transit and logistics corridors to diversify cargo flows.
The strategic outcome of the negotiations was the signing of a Memorandum on the creation of a Joint Committee on Economy and Trade. This document establishes a solid institutional foundation for the systematic coordination of bilateral interaction, the joint development of new investment initiatives, and the rapid resolution of any emerging issues in trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iraq.
