Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, has held an official telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi.

The initiative for the remote negotiations was aimed at coordinating approaches to regional security issues and assessing the dynamics of resolving crisis situations in the Middle East.

During the conversation, the head of the Iranian foreign policy agency briefed the Uzbek side in detail on the recent practical steps and measures being taken within the framework of implementing previously reached international understandings. These efforts are targeted at finally bringing the recent acute conflict in the region to an end. The diplomats engaged in a detailed exchange of views regarding the current state of affairs and analyzed the existing risks to stability within the shared geopolitical space.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan officially reaffirmed Tashkent's consistent position, expressing full support for ongoing diplomatic processes focused on de-escalation and a substantial reduction in tension levels across the Middle East region. The Uzbek side placed special emphasis on the lack of an alternative to maintaining permanent political dialogue, as well as the importance of clear and consistent implementation of all points in agreed peace arrangements.

In a separate section of the call, the ministers reviewed pressing matters on the bilateral agenda. The parties substantively discussed promising avenues for the further strengthening of multifaceted Uzbek-Iranian relations and agreed to maintain the practice of regular, close consultations on a wide range of topics representing mutual economic and political interest.
