Tashkent Police Foil Contract Killing Plot Against Wife

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement agencies in Tashkent have prevented a contract killing of a woman allegedly planned by her husband, according to the city’s Department of Internal Affairs.

Investigators said the crime was stopped at the preparation stage thanks to оперативная information.

According to the case materials, a 39-year-old resident of the capital allegedly intended to organize the killing of his wife amid a personal conflict. Authorities established that the man was living a double family life, and tensions escalated after one of his families learned about the other, leading to serious disputes.

The investigation states that the woman, born in 1989, confronted her husband after learning about the situation. According to the suspect, this led to repeated conflicts and pressure from her side, after which he allegedly decided to resolve the situation through violence.

The man reportedly found an executor and offered 10,000 US dollars for the killing, choosing strangulation as the method. An advance payment of 2,000 US dollars was allegedly transferred to the would-be killer.

However, law enforcement intervened before the crime could be carried out. The supposed executor was detained and agreed to cooperate with investigators.

The final stage of the operation took place on April 20. The suspect was shown staged materials allegedly confirming that the contract had been fulfilled. After transferring the remaining payment, he was detained in the act.

A criminal case has been opened under the article on intentional murder. Authorities emphasized that, under the law, an attempted crime carries the same liability as a completed one. Investigations are ongoing.
