Tashkent Metro Removes Uklon Banners After Unsanctioned PR Action
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Promotional banners belonging to the Uklon company have been dismantled in the Tashkent Metro following the detection of unapproved modifications to advertising structures, the press service of the capital city's underground railway announced.
According to the metro administration, at approximately 02:00 on 21 June, employees discovered that advertising banners in more than 20 station lobbies had been altered without coordination with the management of the enterprise. The situation was promptly brought under control, and the individuals involved in conducting the action were identified.
Artem Li, an employee of the Uklon marketing department, stated that the company engaged a street artist known under the pseudonym Inkuzart to implement the PR campaign, who made changes to the promotional materials. He noted that the company was unaware of the requirement to obtain separate approval for such actions and assured that the established procedures would be followed in the future.
The metro administration stated that an investigation established a violation of current requirements by individual advertisers. Administrative enforcement measures were applied to the responsible parties in accordance with the legislation.
Currently, the dismantling of all altered promotional banners is underway. The corresponding work has been confirmed by published video materials.
The press service reminded that according to a Cabinet of Ministers resolution dated 10 October 2023, any changes to advertising structures and information materials within the metro territory are permitted only in accordance with established procedures and upon coordination with the management of the enterprise.
In addition, conducting PR campaigns and promotional events related to the activities of the metro or conducted on its behalf is possible exclusively with the appropriate authorization.
