Syria crowned champions of international friendly tournament

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In a fitting closure for the eighth version of the international friendly tournament just concluded in Qatar, Syria seized the title for the first time in its history after beating Uzbekistan 1-0 in the match held in Qatar sports stadium.

Hani Al Tayar scored the game’s lone goal on 70 minutes, to end the dominating draw stated ruled the game in all terms.

The Uzbeks pushed for a draw in the remaining time, but a solid Syrian defense-line was too great of an obstacle to get passed.
