Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Seven Uzbek citizens were taken to a police station in Moscow following an inspection of a hostel in the Kommunarka-1 area. Six were released, while an administrative offense report was filed against one, the Representative Office of Uzbekistan's Migration Agency in the Russian Federation said.
On 10 September, representatives of the Migration Agency, together with officials from the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia, visited the Kommunarsky police department to examine the circumstances surrounding the detention of Uzbek citizens.
According to the Russian side, 32 foreign nationals, including seven Uzbek citizens, were taken to the police station during the hostel inspection.
After the circumstances were reviewed, six Uzbek citizens were released. An administrative offense report was filed against another citizen under Article 18.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.
According to the report, after the necessary documents are processed, the citizen will be placed in a temporary detention center for foreign nationals pending subsequent administrative expulsion from Russia.
The Migration Agency's representative office also checked information circulating online about the death of a citizen inside the Kommunarsky police department.
According to responsible police officials, no deaths were recorded among those brought to the department. The information about a citizen's death was therefore not confirmed.
The Representative Office of Uzbekistan's Migration Agency in the Russian Federation said it had taken the situation under control.
