Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Seven more minors left without parental care in Russia have returned to Uzbekistan.
Among them are three children handed over to Uzbek representatives by mothers serving sentences in places of detention.
The next group of children arrived in Uzbekistan on 15 September.
Their return was organised by staff of the Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Health and the National Agency for Social Protection, with the assistance of the children's ombudsman and Uzbekistan's consular offices in Russia.
This group was the third returned as part of a working trip to repatriate minors from Russia. In total, during the work carried out in that country, 30 children have been returned to Uzbekistan. Two more minors were returned from Kazakhstan.
After their return, specialists are working on the children's further placement. The possibility of returning the minors to their families is considered first. If this is not possible, other forms of placement are selected for them.
The children are provided with the necessary medical, psychological and social assistance. Their condition will be monitored by INSON centres.
Specialists will also accompany the children and families during the adaptation period.
Work on returning minors continues. A trip to Georgia is currently being prepared to return one child, and negotiations are under way with Türkiye on the repatriation of minors.
