Saida Mirziyoyeva Calls CCA Tashkent First of Its Kind in Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The CCA Tashkent Center for Contemporary Art has opened in Tashkent, bringing together exhibition and educational spaces, a library, concept store, as well as venues for meetings and research.

According to Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, who announced the opening on her Telegram channel, the complex is the first institution of its kind in Central Asia.

The center is housed in a former diesel power station built in 1912. The transformation of the historic building was carried out by the international architectural firm Studio KO.

CCA Tashkent is set to host exhibitions and research projects, lectures and discussions, film screenings, concerts and performances. The venue will therefore bring together various areas of contemporary cultural and artistic activity.

Particular attention within the project has been given to cooperation with artists, curators and international organizations.

As Saida Mirziyoyeva noted, the center is expected to promote Uzbek artists, expand their audiences and increase their recognition beyond the country.

She described the opening of CCA Tashkent as the emergence of another modern cultural venue of international level in Uzbekistan.

The center was established through an initiative of the President of Uzbekistan and the work of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation.
