Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to preliminary data, the volume of provided market services in January-June 2020 reached 100.65 trillion soums, and the nominal volume increased by 11.16 trillion soums. In comparable terms, compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate was 2.6%.
Compared to January 2020, the volume of market services provided in June (discrete month) of the current year increased by 4.0 trillion soums and reached 20.3 trillion soums.
At the end of the second discrete quarter of 2020, the volume of services rendered was equal to 50.3 trillion soums, compared to the second discrete quarter of 2019 (48.2 trillion soums), the volume increased by 2.1 trillion soums.
An increase in financial services by 35.9% (contribution to the increase in the total volume of services provided by 4.1 points), communication and informatization services by 15.1% (a contribution to an increase by 0.5 points), in education by 11.5% (contribution to growth of 0.2 points), trade by 0.8% (contribution to growth of 0.1 points) had an impact on the growth of the total volume of services rendered. In January-June 2020, compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate in comparable prices amounted to 102.6%.
The main factor behind the insignificant growth in the total volume of services rendered is the reduction in transport services by 9.1% (their negative impact was 1.2 points), in accommodation and food services by 17.1% (-0.2 points), in the healthcare sector by 13.1%, real estate-related 9.5%, architecture, engineering research, technical testing and analysis by 8.0%, rental and rental by 6.2% - had a negative impact by 0.1 points.
In the structure of provided market services by type of economic activity, the largest share is occupied by trade services. So, in January-June 2020, their share was 26.6%. At the same time, high rates were noted for transport (24.4%), financial services (21.5%), communication and informatization services (6.0%).
A slight increase in volumes was noted in the healthcare sector, whose share reached only 1.4%. Also, a low share was recorded in the provision of services for the repair of computers and household goods - 1.4%, for rental and rental services - 1.8%, as well as in the field of architecture, engineering surveys, technical testing and analysis - 2.1%.
High growth was noted in financial services (35.9%), communications and information services (15.1%), education (11.5%) and trade (0.8%) For all other types of activity related to the service sector, compared with the same period of last year, there is a decrease in growth rates.
A significant reduction in the volume of market services provided was noted in the sphere of accommodation and food services (17.1%). Along with this, there was a decrease in healthcare services (13.1%) related to real estate (9.5%), transport services (9.1%), in the field of architecture, engineering surveys, technical tests and analysis (8.0%), as well as rent and rental (6.2%). Despite a significant reduction in the volume of market services provided in the transport sector, their share in the total volume of services remains predominant - 24.4%
The share of road transport is 51.0%. The volume of transportation by pipelines in transport services is 19.3%. In turn, the services rendered by railway transport in the total volume of transport services reached 15.7%.
The share of services for the carriage of goods and passengers by air was recorded within 6.5%, and auxiliary transport activities - at the level of 7.5%.
In January-June 2020, the share of trade services in the total volume of market services provided amounted to 26.6%, which corresponds to 26.78 trillion soums.
Over the past period, the share of retail trade amounted to almost three quarters of the total volume of trade services, or, more precisely, 65.6%.
The share of wholesale trade services (except for cars and motorcycles) reached 27.5%. Wholesale and retail trade in cars and motorcycles, including repair services, accounted for 6.9% of the total volume of trade services. Compared to other regions, the largest share of retail trade services is observed in Kashkadarya (86.0%), Andijan (84.0%) and Jizzakh (83.9%) regions.
This indicator in Tashkent city is insignificant. Here it was only 43.7%. However, in this city, the share of services in wholesale trade (except for trade in cars and motorcycles) is quite significant - 49.2%. In the Kashkadarya region, it was the smallest - 9.6%. A relatively high share of services for the wholesale and retail trade in cars and motorcycles, including services for their repair, was noted in Samarkand (9.4%), Tashkent (8.5%), Navoi (8.1%) and Ferghana (7, 8%) regions. The smallest share of these services was recorded in Surkhandarya (3.8%), Kashkadarya (4.4%) and Jizzakh (4.8%) regions.
The share of financial services, except for insurance and pension services, accounts for 91.2% of the total volume of financial services. Over the past period, the share of insurance services was recorded in the range of 4.9%. Services auxiliary to financial and insurance services accounted for only 3.9% of the total volume of financial services.
The share of financial services, except for insurance and pension services, was significant in Surkhandarya (94.7%), Syrdarya (94.5%), Ferghana (93.9%), Navoi (92.7%), Samarkand (92.6%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (95.0%). The lowest indicator was recorded in the Andijan region (87.2%).
Among the regions in the structure of financial services, the volume of insurance services prevails in Tashkent (8.8%), Namangan (6.9%), Navoi (5.7%), Khorezm (5.5%) regions and the city of Tashkent (4.9 %). The smallest indicator for insurance services was noted in Andijan (3.0%), Samarkand and Surkhandarya (3.9%) regions, as well as in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (3.3%).
The experience of developed countries has shown that the development of ICT directly affects the level of competitiveness of the country, allows you to collect and summarize huge amounts of information, opens up wide opportunities for management at the strategic level.
In January-June 2020, the volume of communication and informatization services was fixed at the level of 5.98 trillion soums. Compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate of this type of service reached 15.1%.
The share in the total volume of provided market services amounted to 6.0%. The active use of ICT is based on a widely branched infrastructure, equipped with the latest types of equipment and technologies, and high human resources.
In the volume of communication and informatization services, the largest share falls on telecommunication services (wire and mobile communication services, Internet, satellite communication services, etc.). Their share was 78.7%.
Computer programming services, consulting and other related services reached 7.5%, other communication services - 4.8%, publishing services, as well as information services - 4.5% of the total volume of communication and information services.
In January-June 2020, the volume of services in the field of education reached 3.75 trillion soums, or 3.7% of the total volume of market services provided. Compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate was 11.5%.
The largest volume of services in the field of education was noted in Samarkand (276.0 billion soums), Tashkent (226.0 billion soums), Andijan (222.4 billion soums), Ferghana (221.2 billion soums) regions and the city of Tashkent (1 588.7 billion soums).
The lowest indicators were recorded in Syrdarya (56.9 billion soums), Navoi (81.6 billion soums), Jizzakh (95.4 billion soums), Khorezm (126.7 billion soums) and Surkhandarya (145.9 billion soums) areas.
Compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate of accommodation and catering services amounted to only 82.9%, and their volume was equal to 2.75 trillion soums. Over the past period, their share in the total volume of provided market services amounted to 2.7%.
In the total volume of accommodation and catering services, food and beverage services prevail - 82.9%. In January-June 2020, the share of residential services was 17.1%.
The share of the city of Tashkent prevails in the total volume of services in the field of health care - 43.3%. Along with this, a relatively high proportion was recorded in Tashkent (9.2%), Ferghana (7.2%) and Samarkand (5.8%) regions.
This indicator is insignificant in such regions as Syrdarya (1.7%), Navoi (2.2%), Jizzakh (2.4%), Surkhandarya (3.0%) and Khorezm (3.4%) regions, as well as in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (2.1%).
The production of services by type of economic activity is differentiated depending on the level of income, tastes and preferences of consumers.
The share of the city of Tashkent in the total volume of services is the most significant - 36.9%. This is due to the fact that the real incomes of the population are higher here than in other regions.
Also, the largest share was recorded in Tashkent (7.4%), Samarkand (6.2%), Ferghana (6.0%) and Andijan (5.3%) regions.
The lowest indicators in the service sector were noted in Syrdarya (1.4%), Jizzakh (2.2%), Navoi (2.6%), Khorezm (2.9%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (2.9%).
Over the past period, relatively high growth rates were noted in Andijan (+7.1%), Syrdarya (+5.4%), Jizzakh (+4.9%), Navoi (+4.8%), Bukhara (+3.6%), Surkhandarya (+2.9%), Kashkadarya (+2.7%) regions and the city of Tashkent (+8.1%). A slight increase was recorded in Namangan (1.2%) and Ferghana (1.7%) regions. A decrease in growth rates was observed in Samarkand (by 0.2%).
During the surveyed period, in the context of regions, the city of Tashkent had a huge impact on the increase in the total volume of market services provided. Compared to the same period of last year, the volume of services in the region increased by 6.11 trillion soums and reached 37.11 trillion soums.
Along with this, relatively high rates were observed in Tashkent (7.45 trillion soums), Samarkand (6.2 trillion soums), Ferghana (6.01 trillion soums) and Andijan (5.31 trillion soums) regions. As you know, the prospects for the socio-economic development of modern Uzbekistan largely depend on the rational use in national and local interests of all the resources of each economic region and region of the republic. The level of development of the service sector ensures the territorial and social mobility of the population, the development of new economic territories, an increase in production efficiency and the consumption of material goods. The growth of the volume of market services rendered per capita is observed monthly.
In January-June 2020, the volume of market services provided per capita reached 2.95 million soums. Compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate was 0.7%.
This indicator among the regions ranges from 14.28 million soums in the city of Tashkent to 1.36 million soums in Surkhandarya region. The low per capita rate in this region is due to the high population figures.
The number in Navoi region is insignificant (as of 1 July 2020 – 1 million people), however, the volume of market services provided per capita is relatively high. For the surveyed period, it amounted to 2.59 million soums.
The service industry includes various activities that help improve the quality of labor and increase production efficiency. Ø In the service sector, the fundamental factors of economic growth are formed, namely: new scientific knowledge, intellectual capital, information technology, financial services, consulting, etc.
As of 1 July 2020, the share of enterprises and organizations engaged in the service sector reached 65.4%, industry - 17.5%, construction - 8.9% and, only 8.2%, operate in rural, forestry and fisheries.
In the structure of operating enterprises and organizations related to the service sector, the share engaged in trade activities prevails (40.8%). The number of operating enterprises and organizations providing accommodation and food services amounted to 9.7%.
The share of operating enterprises and organizations related to transportation and storage and related to the service sector, in their total number reached 5.7%. The share of functioning enterprises and organizations engaged in information activities and providing communication services is 3.0%. The number of operating enterprises and organizations providing services in the field of health care and social security amounted to 3.0% of their total number.
Compared to the same period of last year, the number of operating enterprises and organizations operating in the service sector increased by 37.7 thousand units.
In relation to the surveyed period last year, high growth is observed in the field of trade - 27.6%. The number of enterprises and organizations employed in this industry increased by 25.1 thousand units and reached 115.8 thousand units.
Also, growth was noted in activities related to the provision of accommodation and food services, which amounted to 16.4%. The number of enterprises and organizations operating in this activity increased by 3.9 thousand units. and amounted to 27.4 thousand units.
As of July 1, 2020, in the total number of enterprises and organizations providing services, small businesses accounted for 78.2%.
The growth of operating enterprises related to small businesses has had a positive impact on the increase in the total number of operating enterprises and organizations engaged in the service sector.
As of July 1, 2020, if compared with the same period of last year, the number of small businesses operating in the service sector increased by 36,674 units.
As a result, their number amounted to 221,768 units, and the growth increased by 19.8%. In the total number of operating small businesses, the share of those employed in the service sector reached 59.9%.
The development of the service sector in the republic depends on the growing purchasing power and preferences of the population, as well as the development of small businesses capable of meeting consumer demand, especially for modern types of services using ICT. In other words, the volume of production of services, on the one hand, is influenced by such factors as income and preferences of households, tariffs for services, on the other hand, by investment, tax, monetary and scientific and technical policies, as well as the development of small businesses based on new technologies.
