Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A modern intercity electric train began operating between Parkent and Tashkent on 7 September, running on the Parkent-Tashkent-Parkent route, Uzbekistan Railways said.

The train can carry up to 1,154 passengers and has 586 seats. It covers the route in 50 minutes.

The adult fare is set at 10,000 soums, while tickets for children under 10 cost 6,500 soums.

The new service became possible following the construction of the Baitkurgan-Parkent railway line in Tashkent Region. Construction began in January 2025.

As part of the project, a 24-kilometer electrified railway line was built. Three reinforced-concrete bridges, a road overpass and 76 drainage structures were also constructed.

The project included 16 road-rail crossings. A new railway station with 50 spaces was also built in Parkent.

The launch of the electric train is expected to contribute to the development of Parkent as a recreational destination in Tashkent Region and help expand the district’s tourism potential.

The new rail connection also provides an additional transport link between Parkent and Tashkent, reducing travel time between the two destinations to 50 minutes.
