Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with King Abdullah II of Jordan in Astana on 6 November on the sidelines of a meeting of the Aqaba Process.
The two leaders discussed expanding bilateral cooperation and implementing agreements reached at the highest level, the press service of the Uzbek president said.
Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of the Aqaba Process, established at the initiative of the Jordanian monarch. He said the platform was becoming increasingly relevant amid the emergence of new threats around the world.
The sides positively assessed the development of contacts between the two countries in recent years, including mutual visits and talks. During this period, air links were established, a meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission was held, and a Business Council was set up.
The leaders focused in particular on further developing trade, economic and investment ties, as well as cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Mirziyoyev and Abdullah II also exchanged views on the schedule of upcoming high-level bilateral events and other issues on the bilateral agenda.
