Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with Uzbek grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov, winner of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Candidates Tournament FIDE, congratulating him on what he described as a historic sporting achievement.

The Head of State noted that the young chess player’s victory represented a significant result at one of the most prestigious events in world chess. It was emphasized that Sindarov won six of his 14 games, which was described as a unique performance in modern competitive chess.

Mirziyoyev highlighted Sindarov’s confident and courageous play against some of the world’s leading grandmasters, praising his high level of intellectual preparation, determination, and competitive spirit.

The President also underlined that the player now faces a decisive match for the world chess title and wished him continued success, strength, and further victories in the upcoming contest.

It was additionally noted that Sindarov’s participation in the 46th World Chess Olympiad, scheduled to take place this year in Samarkand, would provide extra motivation for Uzbekistan’s national team.

During the conversation, the President also extended his congratulations to the player’s parents, mentors, and coaches. Sindarov expressed gratitude for the attention and support from the country’s leadership.

Sindarov secured his victory in the Candidates Tournament after drawing his 13th-round game against Dutch grandmaster Anish Giri, finishing with 9.5 points from 13 rounds and guaranteeing first place ahead of the final round.
