Kirov Region and Uzbekistan to Launch Tourism Route

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Kirov Region of the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan are planning to develop a joint tourism route and exchange business missions, according to Governor Alexander Sokolov.

The statements were made on the sidelines of the international industrial exhibition “INNOPROM. Central Asia,” held in Tashkent. The Kirov Region is represented at the event by its own delegation and exhibition stand, which includes representatives of regional executive authorities and legislative bodies.

According to the governor, cooperation agreements were signed at the exhibition venue with the Tourism Department of the Tashkent Region, as well as with the Kashkadarya Region.

The parties agreed to develop mutual tourism exchange. Kirov Region will promote the tourism potential of Tashkent in Russia, while Uzbekistan will present routes and attractions of the Kirov Region. They are also discussing the creation of a joint tourism route titled “Gateway of the Russian North — Silk Road,” along with the development of exhibition and fair projects and the production of souvenir goods.

Separate cooperation with the Kashkadarya Region includes planned exchanges of business missions and the implementation of joint economic initiatives.

According to regional authorities, a business mission to Uzbekistan is scheduled for May 2026, while a reciprocal visit is expected in September.

In the long term, the goal is to increase mutual trade with Uzbekistan by more than 50% by 2030, including through expanded supplies of timber industry products.
