Kazakh Senate Approves Border Regime Deal With Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan has approved a law ratifying an agreement with the Republic of Uzbekistan on the regime of the shared state border.
The document, signed on 8 August 2024 in Astana, establishes a unified legal framework for the long-term regulation of interstate relations along the borders of the two countries.
The ratified agreement provides detailed provisions governing key aspects of border cooperation.
In particular, it defines the procedures for maintaining the state border and border markers, as well as rules for the movement of individuals, vehicles, cargo, and other property across the border.
The document also sets out regulations for aircraft operations, economic and other activities within the border zone, and establishes permanent mechanisms for preventing and promptly resolving border incidents.
The implementation of the agreement is expected to strengthen cross-border cooperation and improve coordination between the relevant authorities of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
It is also expected to further reinforce strategic partnership, economic integration, and good-neighborly relations between the two Central Asian republics.
